Countdown to Grand Nat’l Dreams (Black Air)
With the highly-anticipated release of Jalin Roze’s new album, Grand National Dreams, I decided to educate people who may not know exactly what a Grand National is, or why Roze would have dreams about a Grand National. The Buick Grand National is a vehicle that has captivated the hearts and minds of car collectors, auto enthusiasts, and causal car fans alike. Built from 1982-1987, the Buick Grand National is considered by lots of people to be one of the last muscle cars of that era.
What could be considered a sport/performance version of its more tame sibling the Buick Regal, the Buick Grand National was noted for is menacing blacked-out paint and trim. Aside from the cosmetic differences, the GN featured a turbochared, intercooled v6 motor which gave it a ton of extra horsepower and torque. The perfect off-the-assembly-line street racer, many people in supposedly faster cars have gotten left in a trail of smoke at stop lights all across America for not respecting the awesome power of the sleeping beast.
I was on Youtube the other day and coincidentally there is an upcoming documentary about the legacy of the Grand National called “Black Air.” Watch the trailer and behold the magnificence!
